The story of a camper and its trailer.

The first model of camper, based on the Transporter T1, appeared in the early 1950s. With its distinctive divided front window and rounded shapes, it quickly gained popularity among users.

The second generation of motorhomes, the Volkswagen T2, further strengthened the brand's reputation. The T2 now had a single front window, a more powerful engine and a more spacious interior. The models of the late 1960s and 1970s were immensely successful in Europe and North America.

In parallel with the development of Volkswagen motorhomes, light caravans, specially adapted to be towed by the Transporter models, have also appeared. Brands such as Westfalia, Eriba and Dethleffs offered compact caravans, perfectly suited to the style of Volkswagen motorhomes.

Their design was based on comfort and mobility: the caravans were light, easy to tow and often folded to occupy a minimum of space once parked. Models with folding roof, kitchenette, bed and camping furniture were popular. For families wishing more space than a simple caravan, the caravan was the natural complement to their mobile home.

At the time, there were Volkswagen motorhomes all over the world, including on Lake Constance. In the 1970s, Lake Constance was a popular holiday destination for Europeans in search of a relaxing and nature-like getaway.

Located at the crossroads of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, it captivated tourists with its picturesque views of the Alps, its clear waters and its charming coastal towns.

For camper vanes, it was a real paradise: many campsites by the lake offered excellent camping conditions, with access to the beaches, cycle paths and local attractions. Guests could easily camp in the shade of trees, enjoy the tranquillity of nature and admire the sunsets on the water.

The model of the camper on the way to Lake Constance was created under the official Volkswagen license, thanks to which it was faithfully reproduced in detail - from the shape of the bodywork to the color palette inspired by the iconic campervans of the 1970s.

The set is complemented by an elegant caravan that fits the vehicle perfectly and creates a complete travel kit ready for any adventure.
